It was annouced today that the organisers of last years shut down of the two Bangkok Airports are to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Basically committing acts of terrorism against the state.
The foreign minister, a top general and the leader of the new yellow shirt political party have all been named. At first sight you think that Thailand is at last making somebody pay for the disruption. However this is Thailand, the current PM is courting votes in the North and wants to show he is doing something against the yellow shirts, also the yellow shirts have just started a political party and would be an excellent rubbishin tactic.
I'll show my arse in Burtons window if anyone of substance is actually bought to account, even though in any other country they would have the book thrown at them.

It is just a pantomime. Those people who support the PAD also adore Abhisit. However, this does not mean the PM has a close connection with these people. He still needs to treat this issue carefully. Who wants to alienate himself from the ones who like you?
Everyone who follows Thai politics knows that a general election will soon have to be called. Also everyone knows that Peau Thai will win!
Then the sceinario of PAD back on the streets and the possibility of a direct confrontation with the emboldand red shirts. This will not be good for Thailand, perhaps in a worst case leading to an actual north south split. Even this would prove impossible, the red shirts have a fair following in the capital, probably equal to PAD. All the Thai,a I have have spoken too, from motorbike couriers right up to a very successful business man want Thaksin as PM. There I said the deadly word "Thaksin". Love or hate him, he can't be ignored. I believe he made a grave mistake jumping bail. He would never have gone to jail, rich Thais don't!
I can see only one way out of this trying time and that is for the King to ask for elections and for all sides to respect the result, also give the winners several years to get Thailand back as a player on the world stage. (Sadly will never happen until all the politics sort themselves out).
